Thought provoking in its own way
By Brokensea
It is clear that Steve Wands works in comic book creation. This reads like a prose version of a great comic script. The visual elements are intense and the ending soars back to something massive and epic.
The story is well crafted, unexpected in its twists and above all entertaining. I felt a bit of a grind through the middle section, I would have liked to know why he felt his wife and family cursed him. It was touched on but lacked the depth of detail that the first half of the story had.
If the middle and end was as carefully crafted as the beginning and given the same intense depth - this would be a 5 star review from me.

interesing
By Christine Staeven
While I occasionally download horror stories, post apocalyptic tales, zombie stuff - they are not my preferred genres to spend a lot of time in. It has most to do with suspension of belief required for plot devices and premises. Still, I try one or two every couple of weeks to see if the genre will offer me a writer whose style will pull me into the tale and spin it well enough I am not just laughing at (what I feel) is hokey as tale goes through its slashes, feasts, etc.
This writer has hit a high note in my mind. The story is told without a bunch of silliness that (I feel) can - at times - be what makes me disfavor the genre over others. There are contacts with the undead and descriptive bits on such. However, the whole was not focused merely on encounters for gore value or tons of scenes related to zombie meets to inflate word count. In fact, the only real gore (to my thinking) was the human on human encounter this man relayed over the Thanksgiving feast and its main course.
It takes a look at a man and a ghost who have watched the earth reclaimed via apocalyptic events. I don't want to give spoilers (I have only done so 2 or 3 times) so I won't give more specific details.
I CAN say, this zombie short was tastefully done (no pun intended) and edited very well with vivid imagery and fast pace.
Recommend getting this one free and investing in a longer work of this author.

Wands Writes a "Zombie Art Piece"
By Gregory S. Kuhn
First of all, this story is free - so how can someone pan it as some have done here?
Secondly, the story is a good one. It is basically a zombie art piece. But don't let that turn you off if you love zombie books as I do.
Because I am not saying there is not good apocalyptic action to be found here. Our protagonist is butchered by his fellow survivors, then his "ghost" watches zombies slaughter those who ate him.
Yet his ghost remains alive, trapped in a hell of his own making and haunted by the wife and child he ran from and allowed to be taken by zombies. His fate is more horrific than those who he watched perish after his consumption. He wanders the Earth alone until...well I won't give away too much about his fate.
This is a haunting story and one which speaks to the consequences of our actions. Even if no one else "knows" what you've done, the most important person will always know. You! And no one can escape that.
I highly recommend this story. Wands is a very good writer and this story is strong enough that I still would've given it five stars if I had paid for it.
